Symptom

You have an .sql or .sql.gz file and want to restore a database from it.

Solution

A prerequisite for restoring database content is that the database must already exist. It does not need to be empty. So before you start, create a database. Your dump file can be imported in the customer control panel easily:

1. Login to your web space’s customer control panel.

2. Click on the “Databases” tab.

3. In the database where you want to import a dump, click on the “Import Dump” icon. Choose the file to import and click “OK”.

You can upload files from your local computer or select files from the directories of your web space account. Database dumps can be very large. As the upload file size is limited, we recommend to first upload your dump file using FTP and to import it from the web space directory afterwards. The advantage of that method is that FTP uploads can have unlimited sizes and can successfully complete large file uploads.
