Solution

You can largely specify the access data for ftp yourself. After ordering a webspace, you will receive an e-mail with access data, which also includes standard access to your webhosting account via ftp. You will find these access data in the section "FTP" of the mail.

Basically, you need three pieces of information:

  • hostname
  • username
  • password

The hostname can also be found in the mail with the access data you received at the beginning of the contract. It is typically .bitpalast.net, e.g. "baerbel.bitpalast.net" or "clara.bitpalast.net" etc. Add nothing to it. Your hostname is e.g. nor clara.bitpalast.net:8443, neither http://clara.bitpalast.net but in this example just clara.bitpalast.net.

The FTP username starts with "srv-" and ends with a combination of parts of your first and last name followed by a number, e.g. "srv-doejohn01", "srv-doejane14". Parts of it can be abbreviated. Your “cu-” username is not the ftp username.

The password is unique and basically unknown to us. You will also find the originally assigned password in the mail with your access data. If you have changed your password in the meantime and do not remember your new password, you can easily reset the FTP password. Please refer to the instructions in the related FAQ article.
